As we all know, there are lots of foreign retail companies in China. Wall-Mart is from the U.S. and it is the largest retail company in the world, Carrefour is from France and it is also the second largest retail company in the world. They both announce that their goods are the cheapest in the market. Today we often go to supermarket to buy merchandises, foods, clothes and etc. But do you know the difference of pricing policy between Wal-Mart and Carrefour? Where can we buy the really cheapest goods?
The pricing policy of Wall-Mart is called “every day low price”. That is Wall-Mart insists on providing long-term and steady lower price of all category’s goods than its competitors. So the consumers can reduce the whole cost if they don’t need survey the prices.
The pricing policy of Carrefour is called “High-Low Price”. That is the prices of Carrefour’s goods are usually high, but prices will be deeply low when the goods are on promotion. On the other hand, parts of goods that customers often buy or compare with are much low, the prices of other goods are probably higher than the competitors. Carrefour often advertises a lot to make an impression that Carrefour provides low prices to the consumers, such advertisement usually includes pallet display/banner/balloon/flag/DM/poster.
What I mean, in summary, is that a majority of prices of Wall-mart is lower than Carrefour. But sometimes, you will feel that Carrefour’s prices lower than Wall-mart. Be careful, you are probably stepping in a Carrefour’s trick. Remember, you only buy the cheaper goods that are listed on the advertisements if you go shopping at Carrefour’s supermarket.
In fact, the stated-owned retail companies, such as Hualia, Liahua, Nonggongshang, also provide lower prices. Support your country’s economy, please go shopping in the stated-owned retail companies if you love your motherland.
